CHAINSAW TRAINING ​

Professional training for the novice chainsaw user in maintenance and saw sharpening, as well as further instruction in small and medium tree felling, culminating in certification by City & Guilds NPTC. (These qualifications are essential for the safe and effective use of a chainsaw) The courses take place in both workshop and woodland settings. We aim to prepare the candidate for the workplace, the candidate needs to be physically fit and prepared  for work in the outdoors. 

Level 2  Award (CS30) - Chainsaw maintenance and Crosscutting - 2 days including assessment

​Level 2  Award (CS31) - Felling & Processing Trees up to 380mm - 3 days including assessment

Level 2  Award (CS30/31) together - 5 days including assessment

These Level 2 courses are the pre-requisites for all other chainsaw qualifications -

Level 3  Award (CS40) - Aerial Tree Pruning  - 3 days including assessment

Level 3  Award (CS41) - Aerial Tree Rigging  - 5 days including assessment

Level 3 Award (CS50) - Emergency Tree Works (inc Windblown) - 3 days including assessment

​TREE CLIMBING

​Professional training for the novice tree climber, or more advanced techniques for those wishing to improve their skills:

Level 2/3  Award  (CS38) - Tree climbing (2) & Aerial Rescue (3) - 5 days including assessment: A pre-requisite for all Aerial units: CS39/CS40/CS41/CS60

Level 3 Award (CS39) - Aerial Cutting Of Trees Using Free Fall Techniques  - 3 days training including assessment

Level 3 Award (CS60) - Stationary Rope Work Positioning & Rescue -3 days incl assessment, experienced climbers only

KIT REQUIREMENTS:

CS30 - Chainsaw Maintenance & Crosscutting, CS31 - Chainsaw Maintenance & Small Felling.​

For all of the above you will need: PPE including Helmet, Type A trousers (You need Type C for Aerial units) Chainsaw Boots, Chainsaw & Tools with guide bar of no more than 15" (380mm)

​CS38 - Tree Climbing & Aerial Rescue - Suggested Climbing Kit: Tree Motion Harness with personal First Aid Kit, 2 x three way karabinas (DMM boa), 2 x 70cm prussic loops (Marlow Viper 8mm or Teufelberger Sirius 10mm), ZigZag, 2 x 45m climbing rope (Donaghys Cougar Blue or Orange or New England Tachyon 11.7mm - any 24 strand rope), 3-5m adjustable side strop , ISC Foot Ascender, Cambium saver (Camp/Courant), Pfanner/Arbortec grippy gloves, Helmet with chin strap (Petzl Vertex Vent), Chainsaw Boots or boots with ankle protection! CS41 - Dismantling & Rigging

​For all of the above you will need: PPE including Helmet with chin strap, Chainsaw Boots, Type C (all round protection) trousers, Chainsaw & Tools.
